The jellyfish Its a disguise mask. Some animals like the jellyfish pretend to be something else in order to kill their prey or not to be noticed. I tried to show that in the pictures. I couldn’t really figure out what kind of colors I wanted to use in the picture. I tried some with different lights but then I found a purple light so I kept using that in most of the pictures and videos. The jellyfish has consumed a lot of plastic, and other waste material. It still stings. 

This piece of clothing is handmade. It’s my grandma’s. I didn’t get the chance to exchange clothes in the class. Its a item we wear on our traditional kurdish clothing. The label describes the item first as a nice warm and comfy thing, later on it becomes clear that it is a very selfish thing and it wants to keep you from everything around you. It slowly takes over you. But it’s already to late. But still its a place where you can hide away. Since it’s handmade I did not want it to look like a mass production when i first put the label on it it really killed the handmade part. So I made a small pocket inside of it where the label can be found . I hoped the label  could become more personal this way.

1 This mask is made as an outcome of the feelings I have in this period of my life. Feeling isolated, alone sometimes, missing social contact, people, doing my things.  When wearing the mask, the face is not visible but you also can’t see through the mask itself. I tried to portrait the situation with this.  With the photo series I wanted to show this feeling I have. Being stuck and wanting to move, go out. Live.  2 With this mask I got inspiration from trying and working with the different materials, that’s a combination of things I found and had in my house.  The mask shows for me also a mask that you can find in a kind of folk culture, or maybe a combination of different ones, or a new invented one. I tried to continue that feeling it gave me by making the photo’s and editing them in different backgrounds, which is giving me a feeling of a new kind of world/community.
