Labelled Cap - Stella
I figured that even if I like my idea about norms and prejudices that are linked to certain ways of wearing a idem of clothing, norms about how what to wear are constricting the way someone would encounter this item of clothing.
During the photo shoot I tried to overcome these constrictions by confronting the cap with different wearers and circumstances.

Inspired by traditional American baseball cap. The
purpose of sun protection has extended to diverse fashion accessories. It has a
loop at its back so it can be adjusted to a wearer’s head.
CAUTION:
The wearer’s accustomed appearance might change when
wearing. Potential dangers:
1.Close relations could confound*
2.Associated thoughts could lead to disturbing
confrontation between wearer and stereotypes**
*people knowing each other for some time get accustomed
to a person’s characteristics such as the look, the smell, the sound, the
touch, the taste, the temperature, the height, the width, the weight, the
color, the vibration, the pace of the breath, the friction of the forehead
in-between the eyebrows when frowning, the tilting of the head when more
attention is paid to sounds coming from distant situations, the pace of
blinking the eyes in the early morning when waking up, the changing structure
of the hair when its human, when getting wet and dry; wearing might lead to
unpredicted adjustments in one or more.
**stereotypes are made-up categories with made-up
characteristics that include expectations and reaction-patters. These beliefs are being generalized. Stereotypes
can have the cognitive function of simplifying complexities. Making sense of
particularities and put them into a personal set of values helps one to make
predictions and react. Stereotypes can have the social function of explaining
social figurations in their specific social situation. Generalizations may be erroneous when
applied to particularities, e.g. if they transcend associations of the
object with its carrier. There are explicit stereotypes and implicit
stereotypes. The former refers to those you know and use to judge and
generalize; this carries the great danger of over- or underestimating the power
of personal prejudice. The second type are those that are in the individual's
subconscious and over which one has no control; this brings with it the great
danger that one is not at all aware of the categorization or classification
according to particularities. Often associated with certain objects,
stereotypes lead to a fusion of the object and its carrier. Stereotypes are categories
for objects or persons, but the line between them may blur.
